Marcia Potter moved to the United States in 1970 from the Dominican Republic when she was nine years old. As the eldest of nine children, she always cooked, baked and happily took care of her siblings. While attending high school in Rhode Island she met her husband and business partner, Alan. The couple married soon after and Marcia’s passion for baking became reality when they opened her first store named Marcy’s Party Supplies, it quickly became the local go-to store for cakes, baked goods, and specialty occasion crafts.
After having their first child and a second one on the way, Marcia and Alan decided to escape the cold and move to South Florida. She then sold her thriving business and continued her passion for baking as a side job, until feeling the entrepreneurial itch again in December of 2008, when she opened her current store bringing to the public, her other love, cooking.
While juggling a career and raising her three children, Marcia always prepared ingredients ahead of time so she could provide a home cooked meal to her family each night. Striking a chord with her nurturing nature and recognizing the need for better dinner options, Marcia and Alan decided to open a prepared meals store to help other families do the same thing; put healthy meals on the table each night.
Once the store opened, it soon became clear that she couldn’t deny her passion for baking either, so the couple shifted gears to integrate baked goods and specialty cakes into their offerings. This is when the Heavenly Treats Cafe that her loyal customers know and love came to be. Currently, Marcia and her family, incorporate her love of cooking, baking, and healthier dinner options for busy families all in one location. She also creates delicious breakfast and lunch selections, along with, pastries, desserts, custom cakes and more. Browse our site to see all that’s offered!
